Golf Clubs - Loft Angles and Set Make-Up

Pittsburgh Custom Golf Clubs by Joe Cerimeli Loft & Lie Iron Bending Machine - By changing loft by 1°, may change carry distance by 3 yards.

Golf Club LoftDo you know your loft and lie angles? Be aware. Golf clubs are built to allowable tolerances which can be plus or minus 2 degrees or more.

This means... plans may call for a 36° seven-iron and a 40° eight-iron, but because of manufacturing allowable tolerances, the seven-iron can be finished to 38 degrees, and the eight-iron can also be finished to 38 degrees. Alas, both clubs are the same loft!

Be sure your lofts are correct... a good design... woods, hybrids or long irons that increase by at least 3 degrees and iron increments of 4 degrees.

If you constantly make downward contact, select more loft than what your swing speed indicates. If you constantly make upward contact, select less loft than what your swing speed indicates.

  • Custom Golf Clubs - LoftGolf Club Loft Angle
  • Loft is the prime reason a golf ball gets off the ground and assumes an intended flight trajectory. Bear in mind, the ball flight (trajectory) will change depending on the different shafts used. Assuming everything is constant, the more loft that is designed into a club head, the higher the ball can be launched.
  • Each iron in your golf bag is designed with a specific loft angle. This angle will automatically get the ball up in the air and propel the golf ball a predetermined height and distance. You must remember to hit down and forward through the impact area. So trust the loft and allow it to perform effectively.
