Golf Clubs - Length

Determining your proper golf club length is easy to do. Simply measure from your wrist to the floor using the crease in your wrist as your reference point. Please take the time and double check this measurement and use two people, it is almost impossible to do this by yourself and obtain the correct length. Add left and right measurements and divide by two for an average.

Pittsburgh Custom Golf Clubs by Joe Cerimeli The golf clubs' length is a major/crucial factor which affects distance, accuracy and feel. Click here to determine your club length by Wrist-to-Floor measurement - Pop-Up Window Wrist-to-Floor Measurements

After your initial length is determined from your Wrist-to-Floor measurement, consider your swing plane, swing path and tempo to determine if your initial length needs to be shortened. If you have any of the three swing factors of upright swing plane, outside-in swing path, or quick swing tempo, then your length should never be increased from the length as initially determined by your Wrist-to-Floor measurement.

Many golfers would actually hit longer drives with shorter drivers.

The longer the club, the harder to make sweet spot contact. Every time you miss your sweet spot by 1/2 inch to the left or the right, you lose 5-7 percent of your potential distance, and you wreck accuracy as well.

The table below shows the effect of length on head velocity, ball velocity, and carry-distance.
These figures were developed by True Temper’s Research Department and are the result of machine testing. These charts show how futile it is to play with a driver that is too long.
